Behavioral Health and Data Exchange

QHN offers behavioral health providers an opportunity to participate in the HIE ecosystem along with medical providers. Health-related HL7 messages flow to behavioral health providers, hospitals, and CMHC entities. Behavioral Health professionals also access the HIE’s patient longitudinal record capabilities.

QHN also supports the exchange of information for behavioral health patients by receiving data directly from mental and behavioral health organizations.  This allows these providers to contribute event notifications, admits and discharges, and other content to the HIE’s longitudinal record and directly to downstream care systems via interfaces. Access to this content is restricted to entities with consented access or with “break the glass” permissions. In this model, behavioral health providers can contribute meaningful content and data to the patient’s comprehensive health history while ensuring patient privacy.
